Tryouts for 2008 Summer Select Team Announced

ChicagoLax is pleased to announce the following dates for our 2008 Summer Select Team(s) tryouts.

December 16th 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm at MaxMcCook (4750 Vernon Avenue,
McCook, IL  60525) AND

January 4th 4pm  to 5pm at MaxMcCook (4750 Vernon Avenue, McCook, IL  60525) .

Current Freshman through current Juniors are eligible to participate ('09, '10, '11 graduation years).  Practices will start in June and will not conflict with the High School season.

Our Varsity team is focused on helping players develop stronger lacrosse skills and to provide the opportunity and exposure for players interested in being recruited to play college lacrosse.

Our returning coaches are Head Coach Ryan Hoff (Attack - Notre Dame), Beau Isslieb (LSM - Drexel), and Justin Hess (Midfield - Denison).  We will participate in the Great Lakes Invitational, Notre Dames Midwest Challenge, and either Summer Sizzle or Champ Camp as a team.   Additionally, we will work with each player to help them select the proper individual camps to attend this summer.  Camps that will get them the maximum and appropriate level of recruiting exposure.

Our past and present players have been (or are being) recruited by schools such as Wooster, University of Michigan, Washington and Lee, Gettysburg, Yale, St Anslem's, University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth, Navy, Tufts, Penn, Harvard, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), Colorado College, Middlebury, Bucknell, Lehigh, and Stony Brook.

There is no fee to tryout.  Plan on arriving a half an hour early so we can maximize the time on the field.  We would like to have players trying out attend both sessions if possible.  Parents, we will be available to answer any questions during these sessions.   Please bring the signed waiver form, which will be available as a pdf shortly.

We will also look to field an alumni team for U19 tournaments.

Purpose

ChicagoLax was established to provide college recruiting exposure for high school lacrosse players in the Chicago Area as well as valuable team and individual lacrosse instruction. This prep lacrosse team will be comprised of players who have the desire and ability to play lacrosse in college.

Summer 2007 Lacrosse Tournament Team

We are pleased to announce the invites have gone out for ChicagoLax's 2007 summer traveling team lacrosse program.  We believe that we have put together a program that will help develop lacrosse skills as well as provide exposure to high quality competition and recruiting opportunities.

If you attended the tryouts and have not heard from us, please drop us an email at coaches@chicagolax.com

We are excited about the staff this summer; Ryan Hoff, a junior attackman at Notre Dame will be our head coach.  Two former participants that are now playing lacrosse at the collegiate level have returned as assistant coaches.  Justin Hess plays for Denison.  Beau Isselib plays for Drexel.

We have opted to break the summer into two components.  The mandatory Midwest portion and the optional East Coast portion.  We strongly encourage all players to participate in both.  The standard fee includes coaching, all practice in June and July, entry in the Great Lakes Lacrosse Invitational (June 23 and 24th), entry in the Notre Dame Senior Challenge (July 13th to 15th), penny and shorts, and membership (and the required insurance) in US Lacrosse for one year.  If you have a current membership, please indicate so on the attached enrollment form and we will credit you that portion of the fee ($35).

Practices will be 2 or 3 days a week, in the evenings, depending on the upcoming tournaments.

The East Coast portion has two lacrosse recruiting tournaments, LaxEvo outside Philadelphia (July 20th to 22nd).  We attended this tournament last year and we think it provides the best exposure without conflicting with individual recruiting camps.  There is an additional cost for this portion, a set fee plus your travel expenses (airfare, hotel, food.)  We have a spot in the TopLax tournament (July 7th and 8th) near Philadelphia as well.  Again there is a set fee per player plus your  travel expenses.

Lastly, we will be setting aside a more formal time this summer to discuss the ins and outs of recruiting as it relates to lacrosse.  For all participants interested in playing at the next level, this is a key summer.

If you could email coaches@chicagolax.com with your commitment and if you are doing the east coast events by May 30th it would help us with planning.

Additionally, please return the form that was emailed, along with your deposit to ChicagoLax no later than June 4th.  If you are going to play in the Evo Tournament, or are interested in the TopLax tournament please indicate that as well, we will collect deposits for those shortly.
