Mike Waldron - Varsity Head Coach

Mike Waldron is the Head Coach for ChicagoLax's Summer Varsity team.  Coach Waldron attended Washington and Lee University where he was a three-year letterwinner.  Mike played defenseman for the Generals from 2002 to 2005, which included a defense that ranked seventh nationally in scoring in 2004.  Attended Loyola-Blakefield in Townson, MD where his team won the 2001 Maryland State Lacrosse Championship his senior year.

Coach Waldron has coached Varsity Tournament teams the past two summers and is currently an assistant Varsity coach.    


Kane Russell - Varsity Defense

Kane Russell is a native of San Francisco, CA and played his collegiate lacrosse at Dartmouth College for Coach Rick Sowell from 2001 to 2003, and then captained the 2004 team under then head Coach Bill Wilson.  Kane started playing lacrosse as a sophomore in high school.  During his high school career he earned All-State honors and guided two teams to the state tournament.

Since graduation, Coach Russell worked for STX coaching and designing curriculum for their West Coast lacrosse camps. He has worked the past two years at Town School for Boys in San Francisco, serving as head coach of both the 7th and 8th grade lacrosse teams.. The Positive Coaching Alliance, a Stanford based organization dedicated to the science of coaching, rewarded his efforts by naming Coach Russell a 2006 National Coach of the Year.

Ryan Danehy - Varsity Offense

Ryan Danehy was born and raised in Billerica, MA, a small town outside Boston.  In high school, he was a four time all conference selection, helped his team win a state championship and in that same year, was selected as All-American.  Ryan was a three year starter at attack for Dartmouth College and started at midfield for his senior season, totaling 76 points in his career.  Ryan also was a three letter recipient for the Dartmouth football team as their starting longsnapper.

Over the past two summers Coach Danehy has dedicated countless hours of time to coaching student-athletes in the Chicago area.  He has given one-on-one lessons as well as group clinics to kids and is excited to be back for yet another year.  Ryan also has coaching experience through the Lebanon Varsity lacrosse team, where he helped them reach the semi-finals of the New Hampshire State Tournament.  Ryan has passed his knowledge of the recruiting process to many kids and will continue to work in the Chicago area to help student-athletes learn the tools they need to be successful at the highest level of play.

Andrew Keeney - JV Head Coach

Andrew Keeney is our Head JV coach for the 2006 Summer Season and brings several years of experience coach summer competitive lacrosse.  He was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago and began playing lacrosse in sixth grade.  Andrew was a three year letter winner for Oak Park and River Forest High School and went on to play for Coach Koudelka at Lynchburg College, one of the top Division 3 teams in the country. He has also traveled to the United Kingdom to play for Team UK Lacrosse which won the 2nd Annual London Lacrosse Tournament.

Coach Keeney is currently the Vice President of the Lynchburg College Club Lacrosse team and has competed in the NCLL Division 2 National Championship the past two years.

Justin Hess - JV Assistant Coach

Justin Hess joins our program as an assistant coach for the JV ChicagoLax team after playing for Coach Waldron the past two summers.  Justin has committed to play lacrosse at Dennison University as a midfielder.  

Coach Hess is currently a senior midfielder for Hinsdale Central.  His participation brings our younger players an immediate understanding of the effort and committment required to translate a successful High School Career into a collegiate opportunity.
